ALL MY FRIENDS SAY
At the end of each year, I like to honor my friends that have blogs by linking back to my favorite story that they wrote this past year. It is just a way to support my friends and let them know I enjoy their work. I hope you take the time to click on the links and read about their lives and their thoughts.
I like this entry because Silas is into Roctober mode!
How can his best entry not be about the birth of his first child.
Well, Todd only wrote blog entry this year, but it is good baseball info. I guess he was too busy winning our fantasy baseball league to write more than one entry.
I like this honest entry about something I believe is true of all of us in a way.
Nothing like getting excited about Roctober in July!
A nice simple laugh.
I like this one because you can see the power of Rick’s blog and what actions get done when he speaks.
Like her husband above, there is only one link from their blog this year. Maybe, she was helping Todd win fantasy baseball, too.
They got time in Colorado with some great family photos.
Love the fall looking photos and a course Woody!
He called himself the worlds biggest idiot not me.
Erin made a goal in January and hit it in December. He then shared some insights into what he learned.
OK, I only play fantasy football with him, but I think to think of him as a friend. So here are the three entries/cartoons from his blog that are my favorites of 2009.
Happy New Year! May you new year be much better than the previous!
MIGHT WIN AN OSCAR
It is a tradition of this blog near the end of each year to rank the movies I saw that came out during the year (2009). These are just my thoughts about the movies. If it is different than yours, that is OK. We can have different opinions, really.
Why do I put this list out? Well, no reason really, but I just to do it. It is just a yearly feature of Admirable Thoughts: Writings of Code Monkey.
I would like to thank the Jefferson County Public Libraries where I checked out all but one of these movies. It is nice to watch movies for free. Without library, I probably would not have wasted hours watching movies because I don’t want to spend the money on them.
- Star Trek -Very Good, Creative and did well with keeping with the spirit and hope of Star Trek alive and rebooted. It was so good, Trekkie and non-Trekkie could enjoy this movie.
- Up -Another great movie from Pixar. “Ball, ball, ball, squirrel…” It is like they used my dog, Rocket, as the model for this movie
- The Boy in Stripped Pajamas -Great movie. One that can make you think of about how much we forget past evil starting with a little things like teaching our youth to worship and obey the current leader. I am glad our kids are not blindly singing praises for our leader. Oh wait…
- Monsters vs. Aliens -Very funny, great flick
- Taking Chance – I loved this movie about taking home a falling solider!
- Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian -It was a lot like the first movie, funny and enjoyable. I guess those who learn from history make sequels.
- 17 Again -It kind of reminded me of the 1990 movie Mr. Destiny. 17 Again had basketball and a messed up family life compared to Mr. Destiny which had baseball and a good family life and his age stayed the same.
- My Sister’s Keeper -It may not be as good as the book, but it was a great movie even you can handle sad movies.
- G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra -It did not destroy my childhood memories. That is good because knowing is how the battle…
- Aliens in the Attic -Actually, kind of funny. Better than I would have guessed.
- Inkheart -It was an enjoyable movie.
- Knowing -Bold by providing us with no answers, but giving us the idea we are really in hands of Someone else no matter how much we know.
- X-Men Origins: Wolverines -It was not too bad.
- State of Play -Russell Crowe did a great of job of making a movie with Ben Affleck be good
- Imagine That -Loved all the scene showing Denver.
- Hotel For Dogs -Normal cute movie about saving dogs. I enjoyed it till I learned about how much damage the movie with those dogs did to the environment – http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/pet-dogs-damaging-environment-suvs/story?id=9402234.
- Super Capers -It is one of those dumb comedy that was just funny.
- Terminator Salvation -Plot was so-so, the character development was so-so, but there was a lot of things blowing up and good references to past Terminator movies.
- The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 -Denzial Washington was great and the story wasn’t that bad.
- Push -Felt like watching a bad movie rip off of the so-so TV show Heroes episode.
- Duplicity -Not that good, but Paul Giamatti was still did an great acting job like normal.
- 12 Rounds -Really, not that great of movie.
- Transformers 2 -No real plot, lots of explosions and graphics. Frankly, it goes on the list of the stupiest movies I have seen, but not the worst.
- Race To Witch Mountain -No witches, just a former Rock running around saving alien kids.
- Body of Lies -Kind of drags on while teaching us that lying is bad. Well, ok maybe that is not what it was teaching us, but lets go with that idea.
- He’s Just Not Into You -So-so movie, but it was a interesting take on multiple relationships.
- Shorts -It is what I expect it to be, a silly kids movie.
- Ice Age: Dawn of Dinosaurs -Not that funny. It should have stayed extinct.
- The Proposal -Unoriginal and kind of slow and a little boring
- The Soloist -Well, to be honest I was not in a great mood when I watched it, but still it bored me
- Battle For Terra -Boring and a waste of time
- Four Christmases -At least the last couple of minutes were funny
- Ghost of Girlfriends Past -Not that good at all
- Sunshine Cleaners -A very disappointing movie because everyone told me it was great. I don’t think it was great.
- District 9 -It was suppose to be a movie with a message, but it does not really do that good of a job.
- Public Enemies -The acting was strange, the music was weird, and the storyline was weird. Very disappointing.
- Land of the Lost -Just plain stupid, and sadly it make the 70ies show look good.
NOW THE RACE IS ON

- Really
- Christmas Gifts I Didn’t Get: No Yankees, Red Soxes, or Dodgers in the playoffs
- Yep, it would be nice for the money teams not to make the playoffs
- I know I would enjoy the playoffs more if I did not have to watch those evil teams
- That would improve October a lot

QUIET CHRISTMAS MORNING IN THE COLORADO SNOW
December 6, 2009LEGEND IN MY TIME
Saturday, December 6, 2009, local legend Tim McKernan. You probably don’t know him by that name, we just called him Barrel Man.
As usually, Drew Litton had an great cartoon for him that I have placed below.
RIP Barrel Man.

THE NIGHT WE WON STATE
Congratulations to Faith Christian Academy’s football team. They won the 2A Colorado High School Football Championship.
This is the third state football title since 2003, the year we put Lynzee at FCA (she was in 5th grade). The football team has played in either the semi-finials or the championship game every one of those years.
They have also won a 3A (they are 2A for football and 3A for everything else) few baseball, basketball, track and field, and soccer titles, too, since then. Pretty good run for the school’s sport program.
