CAN YOU HEAR THE PRAISE?
Sunday night, November 29, 2009, at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London, United Kingdom was the end of the era. A band known as Delirious played its last concert after 17 years. Martin Smith and Delirious had a huge impact on the praise music and on my worship with God. I can’t thank them enough for all the times their lyrics have help me connect with God.
I been fortunate enough to see them perform twice in person and be part of two churches over the last 17 years that have sung their songs.
Thanks Delirious and may God bless you in the new chapters of your lives.

SPEAK OF THE INDESCRIBABLE TO YOU
Vizzini: Inconceivable.
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means, what you think it means.
Any time I can use a “Princess Bride” quote in my blog, I have to. So when I saw this story on Yahoo News I knew I would have to use the above quote.
LORD HAVE MERCY ON THE WORKIN’ MAN
I thought I would use my personal blog to push some of the websites that have been taking up some of my time of late. I figured my boss and my clients would not mind that. Over the pass few months most of the work I have been doing on websites has been redesigning current customers sites. I think this would be a good time to mention the sites so you know I am really working and so that the sites might get some extra visitors.
Some of the companies are non-profits group and if you are looking for some place to support this time of year (whether to get in the Christmas Spirit or for a tax-break this year), they are good places that always could use support.
I would love to hear any feed back about the sites so I could improve the websites.

November 9, 2009NEVER GONNA BE AS BIG AS JESUS
Here are the last sneak peeks of various events over the past few months. This time the entry will be about some concerts we went to.
Just a note, that some of the photos from two of the concerts are gone. In fact, one concert I have no photos from at all anymore and another one is just all the photos Mindy had. Why, because I two different backup disks fail and one computer hard drive issue. Kind of the worst case scenario.
Heaven Fest 2009 – Aug 8, 2009
This was the second annual Heaven Fest, a massive Christian music festival in Colorado. We attended the event last year and then again this year. Like last year, it was hot and dusty. However, we did a break as little storm did move right before the last show (Third Day).
To make it more interesting, we used it as Lynzee’s Birthday Party. We took a whole bunch of teenagers with us for the day. We also meet up with Ethan who was there after we got through the long line of security (much, much worst than the year before, but attendance did double).
Some of the band we saw were Matthew West, Seventh Day Slumber, Kutless, Skillet, Stellar Kart, Disciple, and Third Day.
These pictures were all taken by Mindy.
Faith Day 2009 – August 23, 2009
It was the 5th annual Faith Day at Coors Field, but it was the third year in a row for us to attend Faith Day after a Rockies game. We sat in one of the many sections that the church we attend was in. The game was a great game. The Rockies beat the Giants 4 to 2 to move three games up on the Giants for the Wild Card Lead (the Rockies ended up winning Wild Card Spot for 2009). It was a very hot day, but we survived.
Mercy Me the featured music guest this year. I think about 25,000 or 30,000 (about the same number of people at Heaven Fest) of the 50,000 people stayed around for the Faith Day events and concert. It was pretty awesome.
Sadly, I lost all the photos from the day because of the backup disks failures.
Creation Festival: The Tour 2009 – October 2, 2009
This was billed as “A Tribute To Our Creator” and it was a nice indoor concert at Faith Bible Chapel. Mindy and I attend this concert with our friends Lisa and Corie.
The bands that performed were FM Static, This Beautiful Republic, B. Reith, Audio Unplugged, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Jars of Clay.
The nicest surprise of this concert for me was Audio Unplugged. I knew Audio Unplugged were former members of one of my favorite bands. However, I did not know it would include the former lead singer. I thought with his voice issues, he would not be there, but he was. They were great signing all of their old hits, but they are were so honest about their lives. It was a nice night of worship with Audio Unplugged!
Promise Remains Tour
The last concert we got to attend over the last few months was The Promise Remains Tour which included, Kim Rising, Building 429, and Todd Agnew.
This was a great night of worship and music. I knew Building 429 and Todd Agnew were good, but I was surprised by how good they were. I liked the honesty and heart of Building 429 especially about World Vision. I am was impressed with Todd Angew’s insight into life and God and the Bible.
Again, Mindy and I attended this concert with our friends Lisa and Corie which this time was at Crossroad Church. It was kind of weird to be there again as the church I attend for 11 years met at Crossroads. In fact, I ran in to some friends, Randy and Danica, from the old TNL days.
I also saw a team-mate from my softball team. So it was nice to see some friends at the show.
Also, I want to thank, Liz Somers. She had a contest on her blog, Higher Note for a free CD from Building 429 which I won. So thank you Liz.

YOU GOT TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE
OK, it is time to continue on with the sneak peeks of various events over the past few months. This time the entry will be of friends, family, and baseball.
Hamann Family Visit – Labor Day Weekend 2009
Jeremy, Mandee, Emory, Lydia, and Eliot were able to come to Colorado, and we were able to get to spend some time with them.

Coffey Wedding -September 19, 2009
Ethan and Jennifer got married this year. They had a great wedding, and Mindy and I were able to attend on their big day.

Roctober 2009
I was able to attend the last two regular season games and the two playoff games at Coors Field this year. So I got to see the Rockies make the playoffs and then to lose two heart-breakers in the playoffs. Still I am glad I was able to be there.

I’M GETTING OUT OF THIS HIGH-RISE PENTHOUSE SUITE
One of my favorite shows is Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs. It always reminds me to be thankful for my pretty cushy job.
I just watched an episode from a few week ago about High-Rise Window Washers. Oh man, that looks like a brutal, brutal job. Today was a lousy day for computer work for me, in fact the last few weeks have been bad. However, watching that episode made me happy I work on computers in the office and not cleaning high-rise windows of offices.
I CHERISH THESE TIMES UP ON THE MOUNTAIN
Well, I am little behind in posting some photos for the Monkey Pen Readers (those who read the blog) to get their sneak peeks of various events over the past few months. So the next few entries will have some details about some events and links to the pages with photos.
Through you probably have not noticed, there have been some technical updates to the site. One of changes is on all new pages of photos (only the new pages not the old ones) you will be able to click photo and up will pop-up a bigger version of the picture. It has been something I been meaning to do for about two years, but thankfully I have paying work that keeps me busy.
OK, for this entry, I will give two recaps on some hiking trips I did not post anything about.
Rocky Mountain National Park – August 15, 2009
It is become an annual trip up to RMNP to hike around Bear Lake. This year Heather Kerr, Mindy, and I made the trip. Sadly, Stefan Kerr had hurt his knee play softball a few days before the hike and the Kerr thought it best he did not come. We spent the day enjoying the beauty of the area during the eight or nine mile hike. The weather was pretty good for most of the hike till it started raining around the last mile as we headed to the car (which was uphill – just cruel).

Crater Lakes – October 16-17, 2009
Monkey Pen Member, Todd, and I have been trying to get out backpacking for a bit. Life has made it tougher for us, but we finally did get out. We picked a great weekend to go. It did get very windy at night and there was more snow on the ground than I would have guess, but otherwise; it was pretty nice. Mostly, I just wish I was in better shape, but I made it.
A few of the highlights from the trip were:
- We were able to see a train enter the historic Moffat Tunnel. I don’t remember ever seeing a train enter the tunnel before. A little things, but cool for me.
- We ran into a group from Kansas who told us our backpacks looked very “Colorado-ary”. That made me feel pretty good about the trip and the heavy backpack.
- I forgot my folk and spool for eating, but thankfully I was able to use my handle for my pans as silverware.
