THAT’S THE NEXT THING ON MY LIST
Outreach Magazine came out with its list of fastest growing churches in America. Coming in at #7 was the church we attend, Flatirons Community Church! It also had us as the 94th largest in the U.S..
Here is a link to a their story on Flatirons.
Whether we are number one, seventh, or last, it does not matter as long we are we making a positive differences and serving God. I am glad to be something of something special right now.
OH, COOKIE, COOKIE, COOKIE STARTS WITH C
Sad news. Mother’s Cookies has closed its doors on October 13, 2008, and has out of business.
What does that mean? Sadly, it means no more Circus Animal Cookies.

I guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles. |
BECAUSE YOU BRING ME BRIGHTER DAYS
I had been waiting for this concert for many, many months. I must say I was not at all disappointed. In fact, it probably was the best show I have ever been to. It is kind of funny, because the last concert (which I have not and will not mention again) was so bad. Anyways; enough of bad things from the past, lets talk about the Music Builds Tour.
It was a tour that helped benefit Habitat For Humanity and it was made up of four bands. Three of the bands I had not seen before, but a couple of them I really wanted to see. It was also a special day for the tour as it was the last night of the tour.
The first band out was Jars of Clay. This was the first time I have seen Jars of Clay. They came out in all white. I am not sure why, but they did. I was just hoping they would sing “I Need You” (a favorite worship song of mine) and “Dead Man” (which has become my favorite song to sing to myself while I hike…So carry me I am just a dead man…). They did sing both of them, so I was very happy about that.
Next up, was another band I had not seen before. If fact, I had not heard of them before we got tickets to the concert. Oh, were they impressive!!!! If you have not been moved by or been impressed by music in a long time, then you should go see Robert Randolph and The Family Band. They a must see in concert. They did some very impressive things along with good music, but I don’t want to ruin what they in case you see them. If they are in your area, go see them.
The third band up was Switchfoot. I have wanted to see them a for a long time. They were great. The lead singer, a San Diego Surfer Rocker, was wearing cowboy boots. I loved that! They sang about every song I wanted to hear, but 24. Still hearing “This Is Your Life” and “Meant To Live” in person was great.
The concert had already been awesome up to that point, but there was still one more band to go. This one band I have seen many times before, Third Day. You know what, they were great, too. They did this one part where they asked for requests of some of their songs and they would sing some of the lyrics. They did a pretty good job with some of those old songs that I am sure it has been a while since they sang them.
Then when it was all done, Third Day and Robert Randolph played together. After that then Jars of Clay joined them to sing “I’ll Fly Away”. Finally, Switchfoot came out and they all sang together. It was a great show. I am glad I was there!!!

WHERE THE FOG’S AS THICK AS MISSISSIPPI MUD
They may say it’s not the destination but the journey. “They” must have never driven in fog where you have only a few feet of visibility. I did that last Friday night going to my parents place in WY and for me it was getting to destination seemed pretty important.
It may have taken a few hours longer than normal, but I did make it my parent’s home. I was going to quit and stay at a hotel when I got to Laramie, but there the weather was just fine. So I thought it would be safe to continue on. However, half way from Laramie to my parents, the thick fog returned and cars in front of my would seemly disappeared.
Oh, well, I got there just fine. My cousin, Greg, and his wife, Bev, got there on Saturday. We had a nice weekend of hanging out and unloading firewood. It was good to be with some family. Greg even gave me my Christmas gift that he meant to give me last Christmas when I was in Kansas, but forgot. It is now in front of house. I like it and you can see it below.
The weather was on the cool side and there was some light snow on Saturday night, but that made for some good scenery.
