GRACE LIKE RAIN FALLS DOWN
The production crew at the church I am fortunate to attend, Flatirons Community Church, have always impressed me. They have made some funny and creative videos over the year. I always thought they should put them on YouTube.
Not long ago I did find a few of them on YouTube. One of my favorites from a year or so is on there. I was so happy to see it.
Oh, by the way, the part of Grace was by a guy who was the worship band.
IT’S THE NAME THAT HELPED TO MAKE YOU STRONG
Do you think names are important? I saw this story and it made me think maybe names do matter. Maybe, it was the cat’s destiny based on her poor choice of a name? I believe the cat would have been better off being named something else.
ARE YOU READY FOR YOU’RE MIRACLE
I have never heard anyone who has ever ran for President of the United States speak in person. I have never heard anyone who was ever been on Saturday Night Live speak in person. At least those statements were true as far as I can remember until Friday night.
Friday night was the Faith Christian Academy’s Annual Promise Celebration. This is the big fund-raiser event the school has every year. I have enjoy the event the last five years.
This year the evening kicked off with a buffet dinner and silent auction. I was not planning to bid on anything this year, but I did. This year it was different than previous years because I actually was the winning bid on the item I bid on. It is a Colorado Crush Sweatshirt from the team’s inaugural year with John Elway’s signature on it. I am hoping to get a few of the players from the inaugural team to also sign it. Then I will frame it and hang it on the wall in my basement.
There was also a live auction which is a lot of fun to watch. This year the items did not go as high as last years items. Still they have the same auctioneer and he is a very funny guy. It was fun to watch him move the items out for bids.
Then we went into the main auditorium for the main event of the evening. It kicked off with the high school worship band, then some videos about the school, and then band and choirs of the various level of the school performed. After all that, the key speaker was introduced.
To be honest, I would not have voted for him for President. He seems like a nice guy, but I am not sure he is the right person for President at this time. Still I was interested in hearing what Mike Huckabee had to say. It was not a political speech, as this is a school fund-raiser. I really did enjoy his speech. He was very funny and made some great and important points on kids, society, and schools. He spoke on character and the need to raise people up with good character and how the family and schools influence one’s character.
I really did enjoy the evening and hearing Mike Huckabee. I do not have any audio, photos, or video from the event. Sorry.
However, if you did not see him on Saturday Night Live a few weeks back, you can watch it here. It is a funny bit:
I GOTTA ANSWER THE CALL OF THE WILD
It is hockey playoff time again in Colorado.
First up, the Defending Central Hockey League (CHL) Champions, Colorado Eagles. They are already in the third round of CHL playoffs. They will be playing the Texas Brahams in this round in their defense of the Ray Miron President’s Cup.
Also, the Colorado Avalanche are back in the playoffs after missing the playoffs for the first time since they moved to Colorado. Their first round series is against the Minnesota Wild. I am just happy that I will be able to watch them in the playoffs again wearing my Avs sweater that is all the sudden current again. Thank you Foppa for making that possible.
Sadly, though the injury bug has hit the Avs again for the playoffs. Play-by-play announcer Mike Haynes will miss the whole playoffs due to a brain aneurysm. No need to fear that some strange guy will take his place. Former Avalanche TV announcer John Kelly will be covering in for Haynes. Kelly had plenty of free time as he is the current announcer for the St. Louis Blues and they did not make the playoffs. Thank You, John Kelly. Still, my thoughts and prayers goes out to Mike Haynes and his family. He seems like a great guy and this surgery sounds pretty scary to me. It will not be the same watching or listening to hockey without him.
Hopefully, they will do better than some of the other state hockey teams of note. There was the Rocky Mountain Rage, also of the CHL, who choked and did not make the playoffs. The local college hockey teams, Colorado College, Denver University, and Air Force Academy, all lost in their respective NCAA playoff first round games and did not make the Frozen Four which is in Denver later this week.
So go Eagles and go Avs. Bring home some more Hockey Cups for us to enjoy!
Monkey Mediations
- How Baseball and NASCAR Are A Like: Both involved lots of left turns to get to home
- This Monkey Mediation Theme was inspired by Rick, a Monkey Pen Member.
- He was talking about Baseball being Great American Pastime, but could be be worst and it could be NASCAR.
- Or something like that. Thus, I figured it would be good to see how they are similar.
- How Baseball and NASCAR Are A Like: Both would be better off to have NASCAR commissioner in charge
- Well, I guess it is time for some spring cleaning.
- So I am updating my links to other blogs.
- So if you want some link love, let me know and I can add your blog to the links on the left side of this blog.
- How Baseball and NASCAR Are A Like: Both are better to see live than on TV
- I was able to go on 6.6 miles hike last weekend at White Ranch Park.
- The very good news is my “anti-chocking/throwing up” meds are working and I was able to hike without puking for the first time in years.
- The bad news is I am so out of shape and 14er season is coming soon.
- How Baseball and NASCAR Are A Like: Oxygenates and steroids are pretty much the same
- I don’t know how your work is going, but mine is so crazy.
- Don’t get me wrong, I am super thankful for paying work.
- It is that computers are evil and cause me a lot of heads.

HIS MOMMA NAMED HIM ERIK ‘CAUSE SHE COULDN’T SPELL AHHGGGRRRFFFFLLLLQQHH!
It took forever (until the second home game of the year), but I finally made it to a Rockies game in 2008. Hopefully, soon, the Rockies offense will soon be able to make it to the games as well.
Well, thanks to Bob, I got to sit in club level at Saturday night’s game. It was nice to see the 2007 National League Pennant Flying high. I was disappointed that the Wild Banner was not back up. One thing that surprised me was that there was a mistake on the out of town scoreboard. I am not sure if I had ever seen them make that mistake before. They had the Dodgers beating SD 4-1, but they did catch the mistake before the game started and gave SD the win.
I was more disappointed with the play of the Rockies. They are just not clicking, yet. The bats are cold and the pitching is not making those key pitches. I know it is a long season, and I hope they will turn it around soon.
The good news, fans did not forget about Eric Brynes and his mouth from last year. He was booed just about every chance the fans got. Sure, it is not like booing Bonds, but it is pretty nice. Mr. Brynes actually seems to be taking it pretty well and is not a bad sport about it. So do admire him for that. However, I still liked the booing of him. It reminded me of a great Win, Lose, and Drew cartoon from last year:

MORNING IN THE COLORADO SNOW
As you know, when we last left my parent’s truck, it was stuck in the snow in Westcliffe, Colorado. Click Here to view the truck and trailer buried in the snow.
However, with the help of Drew, Bob, and me, Dad was able to launch a final recuse mission and free the truck and trailer. Dad and Drew went down on a Friday and dug snow and use heaters to melt snow. Bob and I got there on Saturday and joined the dig. It was a nice day, well, expect for the very high winds.
To see some (more pictures made be added later from Drew) of the work, Click Here. That is unless you are my brother, as far as know the truck is still stuck and dad will have to continue using your truck.
