PUT ME IN COACH – IV

It is time for baseball to begin again and thus it is time for the most anticipated entry in this blog. It is the 4th annual Code Monkey’s MLB Team Predictions and Slogans.

As normal, the predictions will probably be wrong, but they are here just in case I get one right so I can brag about it. The slogans are more in-line with what I think the team’s slogans should be.

2. Milwaukee – Working hard to sign Farve, please help us John Madden
3. Houston – Houston, we’ve signed a player with the last name Houston
4. St. Louis – Still better than the Arizona Cardinals

SWAMP FOX! SWAMP FOX! TAIL ON HIS HAT,

Here are a just a couple photos of the fox that has been driving us and our dog, Shelby, crazy. She has been spending lots of time in our back (when our dog is not there) and front yard and whining a lot during the night. I got a few photos of it in our neighbor’s back yard after it ran away from Shelby.

Major Website Update: MARCH 2008

It is time for another major personal website update. So, as in the past I will list the new additions to the site here in the blog.

  • FLOODING IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON (Under Weather Menu)
In December of 2007, parts of the state of Washington had to deal with some heavy flooding. “Crazy” Cousin Carol sent some pictures of the flooding as she lives in the area Olympia, WA.
  • CHRISTMAS 2007 (Under Family Menu)
These are photos of our Christmas in 2007.
  • NATIONAL WESTER STOCK SHOW PARADE (Under From Friends Menu)
My friend and loyal Monkey Pen Member, Todd, was able to attend the parade this year and got these great photos.
  • SNOWED IN WESTCLIFFE (Under Family Menu)
Trying to leave Westcliffe, CO is always tough, as I love it there, but my parents had more trouble than usual. You have to see these pictures.
  • JORDAN AND SADEE’S CANCUN TRIP (Under From Friends Menu)
Jordan and Sadee got to spend there third anniversary in Cancun (not sure why did not just say in Iowa, besides all the cold and snow). They sent us some wonderful photos of their trip.
  • PREVIOUS POLL RESULTS (Under Other Menu)
The last poll did get a lot more votes than the previous polls, thank you. It was a very close race between 3 choices and all votes from Michigan and Florida were counted. See if you choice won.
  • HOME PAGE (Home Menu)
There is a new quote, a new pictures, and new poll question on the main page. As always, I would love for your voice to be heard, so vote. The poll is one that I think my wife will love. She inspired me for this poll question. So go out there and vote for Mindy.
  • GIFT CARDS (Other Menu)
It is not a fund raiser. Really. Yet, it is a good way to help us get Lynzee a good education while helping you and your family out. Check it out sometime soon. It is a great way to get gift cards that you will buy anyways.

Also, for those of you who only read the blog entries when a major update of the site comes out, there were 22 new blog entries since the last major site update.

IF YOU FAIL ALGEBRA

Yes, I know I am old, but I have to say that school has changed a lot from back in the day.

First, we actually had classes where we got graded so we could pass into another grade level. Well, the time for those outdated systems of grades and grade levels may no longer be needed in schools. It is hard to believe I ever survived school with such ideas of testing a student to see what they had learned or preparing a student for college. I really wonder if the new system will actually help kids?

Another thing that was different in my day, was we were not suspended for buying Skittles from other students. You could get in trouble for buying adult drinks, drugs, or the biggie, gum. The world has changed so that paying for candy can bring down an honor student and the class Vice President. Image if we actually made our politicians live up to those standards? I really wonder if his girlfriend stood by him at the press conference while he was telling everyone he had purchased Skittles?

IF HEARTACHES BROUGHT FAME

It bums me out. Yes, I know I am probably too close to the situation to be objective. Still I wish it did not happen, but it has. I am very disappointed that Saul Patu was released by the Colorado Crush, the local Arena Football Team. I know it is part of the business, but I really liked watching Saul play for the Crush.

Saul has signed with the Columbus Destroyers. I am very glad he has is still playing football, but I am very said it is not in Colorado.

The good news for Denver and Colorado is that Saul’s Foundation and his other organization, ArenaOne Football will both continue to help families and kids and future athletes here in Colorado.

Good luck to Saul and his family.
