ALL MY FRIENDS SAY

EDITORS NOTE: I have made a change in one of Special Titles for this blog. This story was called “WHEN THE RAIN STARTS TO POUR” in the years past. However, a new song lyrics fit the words of idea of this story better than words from the theme song of Friends. So from now on this yearly feature will be called “ALL MY FRIENDS SAY”

At the end of each year, I like to honor my friends that have blogs by linking back to my favorite story that they wrote this past year. It is just a way to support my friends and let them know I enjoy their work. I hope you take the time to click on the links and read their stuff and support their websites.

Happy New Year!!!

  • Alan’s Blog: Alan wrote a nice piece on a condition know as Temporalagrosriptophobea. It has help me a lot this year over come my issue with Temporalagrosriptophobea.
  • Concrete Cross: Sadly, A.B. did not have any entries in 2007. However, she is still my favorite blog writer and I truly hope she will be able to write some more in 2008.
  • Diamond in the Rox: Well, I had to go with this entry as it gives me joy to know the Wild Card Banner is no longer all alone.
  • Josh Brage: I have gotten to know Josh because of his blog and I thought including him here this year would be good. I pick this story because it was in late September and he was talking about feeling good about the Rockies that late in the year. It turned out much better looking back.
  • Kurt’s Musings: Kurt had a great entry of some photos of his family in early fall. Good stuff.
  • Notes From The Morning Meeting: Rick had lots of good entries this year, making it very hard to chose the right one to link to this year. However, this entry Rick takes on Brandon Marshall and I think he wins easily. However, in a rare move, I will also link to a second story of his. I do this because it has a list of “Ten Things To Do In Colorado Before You Die”. I have done nine of the ten. Like Rick, I have not done the Sink into Strawberry Hot Springs and I have not heard of it. I have decided not to do it for many, many years because dying now is not my first choice. If it happen, I am ready for it, but I am trying to put it off, so I don’t want to finish the list and temped fate as it were. Click Here to read that entry.
  • Our Family: This blog, by Kevin and Heather, is a great picture journal of their family, but it is most of about their baby, Natalie. I love this entry which has photos of all of them.
  • Stephens Family: This is another blog with lots of good family photos. I almost went with their Thanksgiving one for all the great photos. Yet, I don’t too many people who get to sing the National Anthem at sports events, major or minor league levels, so I had to go with this story.
  • The Stonestead: I love the way he wrote the first part of the entry. I laughed for awhile. I also like he thought I was the reason behind the Rockies World Series Ticket Sales Problems. I am glad he has a high opinion of me.
  • Father Knows: This is a second blog by Chris. I love the way he got his kids singing The Ballad of Rocky Raccoon.
  • Thoughts from the Birdnest: This story actually made me realize what an old man I am. I actually got to know Erin because he married LeAnn who I got to know in college.
  • wine, cheese & pontificating: It is funny how people don’t listen and make their own conclusions on a few words on what others said not everything they said, thus leading the one who said things to repeat them many times. This is normal for Bill, I think.
  • Happy New Year

    MIGHT WIN AN OSCAR

It is a tradition of this blog near the end of each year to rank the movies I saw that came out during the year (2007). These are just my thoughts about the movies. Why do I put this list out? Well, no reason really, but I just to do it.

    • Spiderman 3 – Excellent, worth the wait. It is nice to see movie trilogy not get worst with each film
    • Bourne Ultimatum – Very Good. It has many layers of intrigue, dilemma, and great action. I love the Bourne movies
    • Ratatouille – Very Funny, much better than advertised, a must see
    • Live Free or Die Hard – A nice brainless action movie. It made up for 3. Love the Mac guy was not using Macs
    • Hot Fuzz – Pretty funny, weird, and surprisingly enjoyable
    • Amazing Grace – It was slow in some parts but the humor was pretty good. It is a good reminder that some causes take a lifetime or more and the journey can be oh so hard, but it can be worth it
    • Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – Not Bad, enjoyable, and better than the first one. The Silver Surfer was awesome
    • Enchanted – Good spoof on Fairy Tales vs the Real World. The prince was funny and the way they make fun of singing was great
    • Meet The Robinson in 3-D – Not bad, I loved the scene with the flash-back on why the bad guy turned bad. I think that is how most of them are. It is a matter of perspective
    • Simpson’s Movie – Weird paying money for a TV show that I usually see for free. Spider Pig was funny, but the movie was pretty crude
    • Transformers – It was made for teenagers, Gen Xers, & Gen Yers who grew up with the cartoon. It was not more than meets the eyes
    • Shooter – A predicable movie about an former military specialist
    • Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – Too long, too many questions, too much middle school humor, and not enjoyable
    • Shrek 3 – Very disappointing and not funny

BUT I PAID NO ATTENTION TO WHAT MATTERED MOST

I was thinking (oh yes, that should worry most of you), that for one of the last entries of this year I would do something special and hopefully fun. So what I decided to do is to see how much the members of the Monkey Pen pay attention to things in this blog (blog.themarionslife.com). A little pop quiz if you will.

So I am going to ask two different questions and reward the winners of each question with something special. The questions are based on the books I list on left side of the blog (Current Reads Section). I know this will be tougher for those who only read the blog within the notes of Facebook or with RSS readers, but feel free to guess anyways.

There will be a prizes for each question. The prize for Question #1 is a $10 Gift Card To Chipolte. The prize for Question #2 will be a $15 Gift Card for iTunes as it is a little harder.

  • Question 1: During the year 2007, how many books did I read?
  • Question 2: List as many book titles as you can that I read in the year 2007.
    • I will only accept one guess for each question per reader.
    • The person closest to the correct number for question #1 will win the Chipolte card.
    • The person who sends in a list with the most correct titles will be the winner for question #2 and get the iTunes Card.
    • In case of ties, the one who contacted me first will be the winner.
    • All family members, friends, readers of this blog, visitors of this site, enemies, and everyone else are eligible.

I will only accept answers from now, December 26, 2007, till midnight (MST) on January 3, 2008.

I will announce the winners in this blog after January 3, 2008.

Email me your guesses for each question. If you don’t know my email address, use the Contact Me page or leave a note in the comments section with how I can email you and I will email you and you can email me back your answers.
