I JUST WANT TO BE MAD FOR AWHILE

So how I’m doing since the mini-Yankees did me wrong? Well, I am pretty much mad. Not sure why, but I am. I just want to find a Red Soxs fan and beat on them for a while. At first I thought I wanted to pound on Ben Affleck. However, the more I thought about it is not because he is a mini-Evil Empire fan, but because I once paid to see one of his movie.

Why am I so angry? I really don’t know. Probably more because the Rockies were the only good thing going in life right now, so when they failed it hurt and some hope was crushed. Frankly, right now I just don’t want to talk about the Rockies World Series pounding. I just want to be mad for awhile. I will be better later.

SHOUT LOUD, LOUD UNITL THE WALLS COME DOWN

Well, it has been eight long days, but now it is time for the Rox-Sox World Series. Since the Red Sox lacked the ability to put away the Indians quickly, we have been waiting. During that long wait, maybe you have forgotten how great the sweep of the snakes was.

So I thought it would be a good time to post some pictures and a video that the official Weather Person of this blog, sometimes called Carnac or Snake or Greg. Hopefully, they will help you remember how great it feels for the Rockies to win.

Monkey Meditations

  • Thoughts about Scooby: Where do they get money to go on all these adventures?
  • I am thinking it is good that I am not the IT manager for the Rockies right now
  • The team spokes-person job would not be high on my list right either
  • I guess running the ticket systems on the iPhone was a bad idea
  • Thoughts about Scooby: Why are Scooby Snacks Named after him, and why doesn’t he sue them?
  • I am glad I am not a Cleveland fan
  • Talk about a tough life as sports fan
  • All they really have is the Major League movies, one and two — not three.
  • Thoughts about Scooby: Why do they split up?
  • Hey, the Broncos won
  • I think that helps keep them higher on the sports page than the Avs
  • Still, I think they are behind the Rockies for now, at least till the computers work again.
  • Thoughts about Scooby: Why do villains believe monsters will scare everyone away?
  • Yes, it did snow here in the Denver Metro Area this past Sunday
  • I love snow and it was not even Halloween
  • It must have been because it is Rocktober
  • Thoughts about Scooby: How many miles does the Mystery Machine have on it?
  • Leave it to the Rockies to ruin their movement in the sun, er snow
  • From Monkey Pen Member, Rick, “Would you even think about giving them your credit card number?”
  • Frankly, it might be safer with Dinger

I GOTTA BE WHERE I CAN SEE THOSE ROCKY MOUNTAINS

Please, what ever you do, please do not wake me. The Rockies are in the playoffs, and they are winning. That feels like a dream to me. The only reason I know it is not a dream is because normally when I dream about this, I am hitting the game winning homer. Sure if it was not for my injury and serious lack of athletic skill, it would be me carrying the Rockies in these Rocktober games.

One of my favorite parts of this little run is that I have been able to be at four games of this amazing streak in September and October. Well, really, I been to 14 games this year, but the last four are just part of the amazing run. The first one I was at was Sept 19, 2007, when the Rockies came back and beat the Dodgers in the 8th inning. That game was number four in a eleven game winning streak.

Then we went to the September 28, 2007, game against the snakes. You know the last game they lost and the game that ended their winning streak and chances of winning the division. At the time, I figured that was the game that would cost them the playoffs. It was also tough seeing the snakes celebrate their playoff berth on our field. However, the fireworks after the game were nice.

However, that weekend at church, our pastor talk about the Ultimate Comeback. No, it was not about the Rockies, but looking back it was just part of the weekend of Colorado comebacks. (Just a side note, you can watch the whole service at church on-line. One of the cool things they do on the church site now is have video of the whole service. I love that. Check it out here).

With the wins of the Rockies and some wins by the Brewers, the Rockies got to play in a tie-breaker game against San Diego on Monday, October 1, 2007. Man, that was a great game to be at. The highs and lows of the game were so draining, but oh so fun.

The game and Coors Field were so electric because it was do or die. Then it went into extra innings, which just added to the power of the of game. It just seem each pitch mattered and guess what, it did. Even the few non-baseball fans there could not get the evil wave started because everyone was so into the game. The game ended with “The Slide” that sent the Rockies to the NLDS. The place went wild and the stands even shook a bit like the old Mile High.

To see some photos, I took from the game here

Then I experience my first major sports playoff game. I have been to a few Denver Zephyrs playoff games in 1989, but never any in pro sports let alone for Major League Baseball. It was Game 3 of the Best of Five with the Rockies up 2-0 and coming home. A lot of people brought brooms in hope of the sweep! It was fun to see the special introducing of the teams that they do for playoffs games. I am still not sure who got the loudest ovation. It was close between Holiday and special coaches Vinny Castilla and Walt Weiss. It was probably Vinny, we still love cousin Vinny.

The opening pitch ceremony was very powerful. Even each team was the top steps of the dugout to watch the two young sons of the Mike Coolbaugh, the Rockies minor league coach who died when a line drive head him this year, throw out the balls. It brought a tear to my eyes. My favorite story of the playoffs is that the Rockies players voted to share post-season payout with Coolbaugh’s widow. It is nice to see character along with success.

The game was a pitching duel and it got a little dark there for a bit (when the lights went out), but then it got to be a real baseball game. Then just when you thought you would not get to boo Bonds any more, they showed highlights of 2007 for MLB and when his 756 shot came up the crowded booed!!! Another cool part was when we were chanting Tulo in the 7th with the bases loaded because it was so loud that it created this awesome sounding echo. I am not sure I have heard that at Coors Field before. Then Rockies won 2-1 scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 8th and shutting down Philly in the top of the 9th.

To see some photos, I took from the game here

If you are just now joining the bandwagon, come on board. We will make room. If you need a quick notes on the Rockies, check out Dave Krieger 101 story.

Man, this is so fun watching this unbelievable run. I could get use to go going to games that ends with fireworks and the Rockies celebrating on the field. I have been to two games in a row now and believe me I never thought I would see that anytime soon.

GO ROCKIES!!!!!!

I SAID WILD THING

I have the felt the low feeling of thinking I have failed a spelling test, only to enjoy the high of passing.

I have the felt the low feeling of thinking I would not make it to a top of the mountain, only to enjoy the high of summitting.

Tonight, I felt all levels of being a sports fan. I felt the lowest of lows thinking the Rockies blown the game in the top of the 13th inning, only to see them win it in dramatic fashion.

I was so blessed to have been at that game at Coors Field! Thank you Todd!!!!!!!!!!

I will write more about it later. Right now I am just getting home and should go to bed. However, I am so excited. Man, that was fun.

Wild Card Rockies, I think I love you!
