I CAN SEE YOU PAINT MY PICTURE
Major Website Update: Feb 2007
I have decided that when I do a major personal website update, I will list the new additions to the site here in the blog instead of in the update email that people get when they are on the mailing list (you can sign up for from the Home page).
- BLIZZARD 2006 – ROUND 1 (Under Weather Menu)
Around here in December we got hit with a few snow storms over seven weeks. Here are some pictures from the first storm, which was a big one. - BLIZZARD 2006 – ROUND 2 (Under Weather Menu)
More snow photos, this time for the second big storm. - CHRISTMAS 2006 (Under Family Menu)
Here are a few photos of this year’s Christmas time. - VARIOUS PHOTOS FROM FRIENDS (Under From Friends Menu)
Since friends have emailed me some photos, I thought it would be nice to share them with others. The pictures this time include a wedding, a Bronco’s game in a hostile area of the world, and various family/kids shots. - WORLD VISION (Under With Friends Menu)
The small group that we are blessed to be part of, got to spend some time helping down at the World Vision warehouse. - HIKING IN FEBRUARY (Under Mountains Menu)
This was suppose to be snowshoeing trip, but it turned into a nice hike. - PREVIOUS POLL RESULTS (Under Other Menu)
I was happy with all the votes in the last poll, but I was surprised by how many people feared hell and politicans but not lawyers. Actually, my two fears are crossing man-made bridges (I can walk on the edge of a unstable mountain ridge but I don’t like those man-made bridges) and parking lots (just cause people turn off their brains when they start driving in parking lots especially around Christmas time). - HOME PAGE (Home Menu)
There is a new quote, picture, and a new poll question on the main page. As always, I would love for your voice to be heard, so vote.

THE MEANEST WRESTLER THE RING HAS EVER KNOWN
It has been a few years, but last weekend I and a friend of mine had the opportunity to attend the Colorado High School Wresting State Championships again. This year marked the 72nd year for the state tournament. On the day we attended the event at the Pepsi Center, we part of over 16,000 people who purchased tickets for that day. That is a lot of wrestling fans and families. I love it.
It did include a first for me. We wanted to sit near the 2A schools mats, but the only seats we could get were club level seats. Never in my life at any concert and sporting event at any stadium or arena (and I probably have been to 250-300 events) have I ever been in club level seating.
We got to see a lot of good matches, but the one I will remember the most will be because of bad none-call by a ref. In a semi-final match, a kid from Rocky Ford had his opponent on his back and struck, twice. One time for about 40 seconds and the another time for about a minute and half. The kid on the bottom was not even moving during the second time but no pin call was made by the ref. It was horrible. The Rocky Ford coach and fans were mad and rightly so. The kid from Rocky Ford won easily but he and his team were robbed of a pin.
All and all a good night. It was fun seeing the schools that I use to wrestle against. Also, I learned about Dove Creek, Colorado. I have never heard of it. However, I do now as they won the 2A school title.

MOTHER NA-TURE’ GOT IT ALL TOGETHER
Sure being on the Designation Committee sounds like it is a lot of fun. The Committee gets to attend rockies games and watch baseball to help with their decisions. However, it can be very stressful holding the capital R in your hands and knowing it could effect how a whole teams plays. So to handle the stress of this great burden, the Committee sometimes gets out and goes snowshoeing or hiking.
Last Saturday, we attempted to go snowshoe near Echo Lake and Mt. Evans. The morning started with the usual slow drive up I-70 along with all the ski traffic. Yet, that drive gave us the first clue that we were going to see a lot of wonders that day. During the drive we got to see lots of big horn sheep. That is a not a big surprise on I-70, but it is still a joy.
When we got to our snowshoeing trail, we had to make a decision (I am not sure more decisions help us with the stress of decision making), to use of our snowshoes or just hike. As there was very little snow, the Committee members wisely choice to just hike and not carry our snowshoes. We were disappointed by how little snow was there but getting to hike is not a bad thing.
As we hiked we had glimpses of the wonders we would be seeing later but we did not really take it in. We were just enjoying the fresh air, the hiking, and the mountains. Plus, we were sucking a little wind from being a bit out of shape. Well, at least I was sucking wind, as I can not speak for Todd.
When we reach the end of our hike, there they were in all their glory. They were some of the prettier ones we had ever seen. We were surprised how big they were and that they were here as they don’t usually grow that big above 10,000 feet. They must be tough as it was able to be there undamaged by altitude, animals, humans, snow, fire, etc. It is just not something you expect to see in nature especially after a good hike. As a Committee, we were glad to be able to hike up there and get to see this outdoor wonder.

PEOPLE SAY WE MONKEY AROUND
We have a winner. Yep, after my last entry where I asked for ideas for a name for the loyal readers, one was found.
A top-notched committee was formed. The members of the group are very wise(guys) who have experience in picking names for various blog and for things in the blogs. So nothing but the best were part of the committee. They stepped up big time to help with this big need.
The team was made up of Rick Cummings of Notes From The Morning Meeting and Todd Nikkel of Diamond In The rox. I want to thank them both for working on coming up with a new name! Give them a hand everyone!
They gave me a many ideas based on various themes from my blog theme. When it came to decision time, I went with one that used both baseball and primate themes of site.
From now on when I refer to my loyal readers or ask you for input, I will be making a call to the Monkey-Pen.
I am very confident that my Monkey-Pen will do much better than the rockies pen (see WL&D) and I will never need to avoid going to the Monkey-Pen.
