BLAME IT ON TEXAS

Funny how it is human nature to blame others but never yourself. It is always someone else’s fault like your parents, your kids, or a course W. I know this is not a new idea or thought. Adam blamed Eve for his sin, and Eve blamed the snake for deceiving her. I am sure the serpent actually blames God for all his faults. Why, because if we look at ourself and find a blemish, then we might have to deal with wounded pride and will have work hard and change. We can’t have any of that.

I got to be part of the Oakland A’s latest blame game. That blame game happen on June 20th, 2006, at 20th and Blake, home of the Colorado baseball team. I was there with Mindy and Lynzee to see the rox’s (currently small r but if keep playing well enough maybe the committee with give them back their big R) pitchers throw the teams first ever 1 hitter. Who would have thought a little blooper in the first was all the hits the A’s could muster. It also marked the second game in a row at Coors Field that the home team blanked the A’s on the score board.

Game Recap Here

What could have caused the lack of hitting by the A’s. Could it be great pitch selection by the rox catchers? Was it the great pitching of the pitchers? Maybe, there is scouting reports on the A’s hitters by the rox scouts? Oh, maybe Hurdle is making some good coaching moves? Then there is always good defense?

Oh, but no. Just listen to the A’s and you will know it is not their fault that they could not hit. According to their manager, Ken Macha, “…there should be an investigation”. See they think that it is the humidor that the rox use for the balls is why they can’t hit. Sure it does not matter that for five years Colorado has used it and it did not matter much till the pitching was better and team started losing to Colorado. It does not matter that both teams use the same balls and the rox got 13 runs in two games while the A’s got none. Nope, it is not their fault they can’t hit or for that matter pitch.

Really, the only A’s player that I heard that almost got it was Jason Kendall. “Clearly (the balls) are different than they were before, That’s no excuse. We just stunk the last two nights.” Still he gives room for the balls being different. A little wiggle room is always nice.

In the end, we had another great time at the ballpark and saw another win for the home team. Thus, making me 3-0 at the rox games this year. Oh wow, maybe it is my fault?

LIFE IS A HIGHWAY

Rural versus Suburba. Machines versus Animals. Pixar versus Dreamworks.

Last weekend we went and watched the movie, “Cars”. This weekend we went and saw “Over The Hedge”. Both are great animated movies, funny, and have great messages. However, I must say I enjoyed Cars a more than Over The Hedge. It was funnier, move creative in its story, and a better sound track. Cars is more about the love of smaller towns and simplier life which appeals a lot to me. Finally, as much as I like Bruce Willis (Over The Hedge) he is just no Larry The Cable Guy (Cars).

I really do not want to write too much about either of the movies any give anything away. So really I would say if you can only choose one animated movie this week then check out Cars (sit all the way through the credits or you will miss some good stuff), but if you can afford the loan needed for two movies, they are both enjoyable and worth seeing.

YOU HAVE TO SAY BAAA TO A LITTLE GOAT

Emory and Lydia. Lydia and Emory. Yep, if you pay attention to the photos on the website you would have notice a few of Emory and Lydia. Well, they come from Iowa to spend time with us along with they mom, Mandee, and Aunt Sadee. This is Lydia’s first visit to Colorado but Emory has been a few times.

We had the pleasure of having them stay with us for ten days. Nothing like a two year old and a baby under 1 years old to help you feel old and tired after playing with them for just a bit. We had a good time but now they have headed home. The time they were here did seem to fly by pretty fast.

I learned a lot from the little ones, like my gold fish are Nemo, M&M’s will make a two year old very happy, people leaving the room is sad, and trying to learn to crawl can be frustrating.

One of the things we did was go to the Denver Zoo while it was around 100 degrees. It was so hot but we ended up still having a good time.

Here are some photos of our time with the family and some photos while we were at the zoo.

Monkey Meditations

  • Things that confuse me: Goofy is a dog who walks and talks and lives in a real house. Pluto is a dog who does not talk or walk and lives in a dog house. Is Disney making fun of stupid dogs?
  • Yes, I know at some point I need to say something about the rockies and the USA Today story.
  • Maybe, I will later. I hoping to think of something profound to say.
  • So it could be awhile.
  • Things that confuse me: Dumbo is an elephant. Dumbo can fly. Why can’t more elephants fly?
  • This story makes me so mad and sick.
  • I can not believe that a judge only gives the drive six months of jail and the while Rachel Kelly, the victim suffers for the rest of her life.
  • Isn’t great that our judges don’t believe in jail sentences or justice?
  • Things that confuse me: Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are single. They each have had a steady girl friend since the 1930′s. Are they afraid of commitment?
  • After 11 years at our current church, TNLC, we have moved on to another church. Mostly because we moved and the long drive is too hard on the family.
  • We found a great new place of worship for us, Flatiron Community Church, and we are so excited about it.
  • A few weeks ago they had a night where they gave us their vision and I find it so exciting. You can listen to it here. If you want to ever check it out with us, let me know.
  • Things that confuse me: Donald wears no pants. Donald wrap a towel around his waist after a shower. Is Disney ok with duck nudity as long as it is not wet?

  • Yes, there is minor change to the look of the blog and I will make the rest of the site like it at some point. Things are always changing, I guess.
