PRAY FOR THE FISH
As I turned to my wife to say “He reminds me of Daryl”, she turned to me and said “He reminds me of Daryl”. It was the way he would tell a story, grin, and laugh, which reminded us of Daryl. Could cousin Daryl be related to Randy in some way? Na, more likely he is related to Martina, but that is different story. Maybe Randy acts like Daryl because he wants to be a member of the exculsive Daryl Fan Club. It is hard to not to believe that. YA Daryl!
Lynzee, Mindy, and I along with 5000+ people went to see Randy, on October 26, 2006 Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada. The Randy that is so much like, Daryl, is Randy Travis. He was performing a free concert that his website calls an Inspiration Appearance. I guess sometimes he does Inspiration Shows, which are more of his gospel music and sometimes he does a country show, which is his country music. Frankly, the music sounds the same with his distinct voice but with different words.
One of the things I really enjoy about his show was how he interacted with the crowd. He was very personal and funny. There was about 15 minutes in the show where Faith’s Senior Pastor interview him and that was where Mindy and I really thought he was so much like Daryl. YA Daryl!
Lynzee and I really wanted him to sing “Pray For The Fish”, but I figure he would not play it. He said that song almost did not get on the album, but then his manager/wife left the studio for an appointment and somehow it got recorded and placed on the CD.
He also said that when he goes anywhere, people want him to sing it, so he made it part of the show. Lynzee and I was very happy that he did perform it.
All and all, he sang a lot of songs. It was not a short concert and that was cool. He did sing one of his “country” songs, “Forever and Ever, Amen”. The closing song was on the country chart and won a lot of country awards, but it is also worship song. The song was “Three Wooden Cross”, which Lynzee also loves. So she was very happy with the show.
I had seen him in concert before and I enjoy it. This time, I enjoyed his concert again, especially because of getting to see a lot more of his humor and personality. My favorite part was watching how much fun Lynzee was having. It made a good concert even better.
Oh, yea, YA Daryl!
GOOD RIDE COWBOY
Dear Mr. Tagliabue,
As a Bronco fan, I have a few questions about the games and ideas that you might find useful.
First of all, can you explain the rule of holding to me as I have become confused on what counts as holding? As I have being watching the NFL games, I am seeing lots of defensive linemen having trouble overcoming being pulled to the ground in the 4th quarter. Since there has been no holding penalties called while the defensive linemen go down, that must not be holding.
Speaking of the 4th quarter is there any way that quarter can only be 13 minutes long instead of 15? Maybe it can be like that for Denver as they seem not to be able to play 60 minutes.
Thank you for not making the playoffs the best of seven games, as the Broncos have trouble with game seven.
Is there any way to have a holiday for anyone with the last name of Manning on any day they play Denver? That way they could have the day off and there would be a lot less suffering in Colorado.
Finally, is there anyway Drew Litton can be named spokes person of the league? He seems to understand it well. Have you seen a few of his latest master pieces? They can be found here and here.
thank you.
Dear Mr. Bettman,
First off, I am happy to see your league is back playing again. The new rule changes for the most part are fun to see. Nice job.
Thank you for showing the world that the U.S. does not believe in being hard on crime (at least for the rich and talented) and giving Steve Bertuzzi only a 20 game suspension. I know we would not the punishment to fit the crime.
I was wondering, what you are your plans if Brad May attacks Steve Bertuzzi or visa versa? As an Avs fan, I am not sure who we will boo more or if I care what they do to each other.
Kudos, on the league’s decision to have Vancouver stay in Denver for 3 nights and play 2 games? Nothing like pour more gasoline on a fire. With that kind of brilliant thinking, I can see why the league is so successful.
Is there any way the games could go only for 58 minutes instead of 60 minutes. The extra few minutes seems to be hurting the Avs chances of winning games.
thank you.
Dear Bud,
Thank you again for another year of baseball. As as fan of the game, I appreciate having any season where you do not hurt the game and league.
I am writing this note, in order to see if you can answer something that has puzzled me. I saw the White Sox won the World Series because of pitching. If fact, their starting pitchers had four straight, complete games in the ALCS. As a Rockies fan, I am very confused by that. As I have watched the Rockies over the years, I had came to believe that teams were only allowed to have two complete games a year at most by their starting pitchers. I did not know a team could not have so many good starting pitchers. Can you please explain to me how the White Sox got by these rules and is there anyway the Rockies could try that?
Also, is there any way to throw out a inning every game for the Rockies? This would help fight the horrible epidemic know as the Big Inning Syndrome.
thank you.
Dear Mr. Stern,
Wow, how do you expect you players to make it? I have heard from your players before that they can not even afford to feed for their own kids on what little they make. Now you are making them buy suites without a clothing allowance. Shame, shame, shame. What is next a moral code that does not allow them to beat up Detroit fans?
Can you shorten the games? I do not watch them, but it would allow things I like on TV to be on the air earlier?
Dear Mr. Brooks,
Thank you for taking time out of your retirement to honor Chris Ledoux.
ROCK MY WORLD
So you think that I am just a typical, lazy computer programmer with no craft-man skills. Well, that is true, most of the time, but sometimes a Code Monkey can learn abilities that don’t involve a keyboard. My wife and I got to attending a training event last Saturday before the concert to learn techniques of installing cultured stone by a professional stone mason. It was a great opportunity to gain hands on experience and knowledge on how to apply cultured stone, especially valuable for anyone considering their own rock project. To attend this event, there was no cost, no tools were needed, and a great lunch was to be provided. What a deal.
Oh, that was the sales pitch, but actually, it was a creative way for our friend’s, Rod and Star, to get free help with completing their garage in Winter Park. Pretty sneak, but we fell for it. Really, they are great friends and they help us out a lot, and we were glad to be able to help. Plus, I love Star’s food.
Mindy and I had a lot of fun doing this. I think she was even a little tempted start a new career, even though it involved mud and dirt. Pretty scary for a compulsive clean freak like her. We learned how to mix the mud, butter the rocks, and place the rocks on the wall in a good pattern. Most of the time the rocks would stay on the wall. I did struggle with the big rocks as I had a lot of trouble getting them to stick on the wall.
All in all, it was a blast and we were glad we got help our friends and spend time in the mountains. Actually, we was very nice day in the mountains. The next day it snow, so Rod picked a good for the work to get done.
So again for you loyal blog readers, I am adding a sneak peek of the pictures of our help with this project. Click here to view them.
COME AND LISTEN
October 08, 2005, we were part of the Collision Hit the Denver Metro Area. The Collision being the latest tour of the David Crowder Band. This tour consisted of three Texas bands.
The first band of the night was Robbie Seay Band. I did not know much about them. They were ok and I did not mind their set. They are a group I will check out more.
The second band was Shane and Shane. I have listen to a few of the band’s CD and I must say I did not enjoy them. So I did not have high hopes for them. Then we heard them live and I must say I really don’t like them at all. They were funny, but I can not stand their voices and they lyrics did not speak to me. I felt their set was way too long and I so was glad when they were finally done.
Thankfully, their set finally ended and David Crowder Band come out and they did not disappoint. Man, they are so good. This was our fifth time worshiping with them in concert and each time it is better and better.
After they came out, the place was just rocking for the next hour or so. His second song, one of my favorite songs that we sing out church, There Is No One Like You, really got the place going. They sang a lot of old songs and new songs from his new CD. The new CD, A Collision is a very created and wonderful CD. If you have not purchased it yet, why not? Come on, get with it.
It is hard to describe how great the night was if you were not there. As David said it was like a blending of heaving and earth in some strange way when there is corporate worship like that. It was just great especially when we sang O Praise Him and Here Is Our King. It was just an incredible time that you should not miss if you get a chance to see the David Crowder Band in concert.
